How is this different from platform playlists and favorites?
Playlists and favorites mainly keep links. Kontenu turns the content that mattered to you into usable memory: organization, summaries, key points, a timeline, a dashboard and exports. You do not just find “that video you liked”; you rediscover what it taught you, inspired you to do or helped you understand.
Which sources are available today?
Kontenu currently retrieves content from YouTube, YouTube Music and Spotify playlists. Other sources and retrieval methods are planned on the roadmap, so please tell us what you need.
Do I need to change my habits?
Keep listening to and watching content on your usual platforms. When you want to save something, add it to the playlist you chose. Kontenu then retrieves and enriches it so it becomes searchable, readable and exportable.
What if Kontenu closes one day?
That is our Export-First promise: you can export all your data at any time in Markdown or JSON. If Kontenu disappears tomorrow, you keep everything.
Is my data secure?
Your data is encrypted, hosted in Europe and GDPR compliant. Your platform access tokens use AES-256 encryption. We never sell your data.
Is there a free or freemium plan?
Kontenu is a paid service with three tiers: Essential, Pro and Premium. Each tier includes a token allowance that covers artificial intelligence processing for a number of items each month, as well as data hosting. During the beta, the Pro tier is available free by invitation.
What happens when my tokens run out?
You can add your own OpenAI API key in settings to keep processing content beyond the included allowance while retaining access to all features in your tier. This lets you control your AI budget without interrupting your workflow.
Does it work on mobile?
The app is responsive and works on mobile devices as well as computers.
Do I need to connect my Google account?
Yes, to sync your liked videos and playlists. Kontenu uses official Google authentication through OAuth 2.0 and never stores your password. Your access tokens use AES-256 encryption, and you can revoke access at any time from your Google account.
